The Latest PILLAR Happenings!

NEW "Digs" for PILLAR!

After many great years at our Rio Grande Street location, PILLAR has moved to new, modern, completely handicapped accessible office and classroom spaces. Our new home is located on the second floor of the Country Corners shopping center at 202 East Cheyenne Mountain Blvd., (Suite I).  The new facility offers ample parking, a co-located classroom and pleasant, updated work spaces for volunteers. Just follow Nevada south from our old location and turn right on East Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. Turn right into the Country Corner shopping center and follow the pink PILLAR signs.

Letter From the Executive Director.

Greetings and best wishes for 2010! This new year ushers in a host of opportunities and challenges for PILLAR and its programs, volunteers, and supporters. Everyone wishes Bonnie jw Riley success and happiness in her new endeavors, yet we are all going to miss her enthusiasm, commitment and love for the PILLAR family.  In my short time as Executive Director, I have witnessed her positive impact on our community.

In order to build on the solid foundation PILLAR has established, we will be innovative and diligent in our quest for excellence. We plan to expand our class offerings while maintaining our standards of content quality. Even in our current economy, our Travel Adventures program offers vibrant and cutting-edge opportunities to visit, view, and learn about our beautiful city, country, and world.  PILLAR's Philosophical Cafe concept will undoubtedly grow and reach many additional participants. Who knows what new and exciting programs may present themselves in the coming year?

All of this is not possible without the contribution and commitment of our volunteers, who have all welcomed and encouraged me.  The future success and strength of PILLAR will certainly grow from the many dedicated people I have met and enjoyed. These same people have stepped up and answered our request for financial support over the past two months and have given us the assurance that we will continue our mission and contribution to our great city.

Circumstances and situations sometimes change quickly such as our need to find new classroom and office space. Change is often for the best as is the case with our new location. Please stop in and see for yourself the improved flexibility we've gained from our move. While you're here, sign up as a volunteer to help us as we improve, expand, and diversify our committee and support staff.  It's a win-win situation for you and PILLAR. Besides, we'll have some fun while we're at it!

Tosca at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver!

Marti Booth
and PILLAR have arranged a very special opera outing for you.

Tosca  - Sunday, May 2, 2010

Ron Daniels will direct this opulent production set, as it should be, among the historic landmarks of Rome.  Sandra Radvanowsky, 1995 winner of the Metropolitan Opera National council auditions will make her Opera Colorado debut as Tosca.  The beautiful diva Floria Tosca, who lives only for her art and love, finds herself  inexorably drawn into a deadly political game as she tries to save her lover, the painter Cavaradossi (Antonello Palombi) and ward off the lecherous and sadistic police chief Scarpia (Greer Grimsley).  A suspense filled chapter from the French Revolution!
