Enrichment Through Lifelong Learning

Bonnie jw Riley
Founding Executive Director

Established in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational program, PILLAR offers Enrichment Through Lifelong Learning.  Classes are designed by and for the senior pillars of our community, though people of all ages are welcome. This is a chance to learn about virtually any topic including history, music, art, computers, geology, health or current events.  It's also an opportunity to have a great deal of fun! You could take day tours or extended trips with like-minded people and much more.  Over two hundred volunteers have given PILLAR the strength and momentum required to continue operating because they believe in the mission which states, “To offer to the Pikes Peak area affordable educational programs of the highest quality designed by and for the aspiring pillars of our society, i.e. retirees and other interested individuals.”

Volunteer opportunities abound in the areas of instructing, assisting in the office, hosting classroom sessions and entering computer data, to name just a few. Countless people have told us that PILLAR added something of value to their lives since retirement, even those who are still working. Attending classes has led them to meet new friends with common interests.  PILLAR continues to grow and evolve to meet the interests of the participants and raise their level of curiosity and knowledge about life and the world in which they live. Call the PILLAR office at 633-4991 for more information or to receive future PILLAR Previews that list class offerings.
